The sell out Bloodaxe Challenge will be returning for it's 7th year.
The race is named after the notorious Viking King, Eric Bloodaxe and is timed to take place alongside the Yorvik Viking Festival.
The event is held at York Sports Village on their 1km cycle circuit. This is a 2 hour, chip timed event so you can turn up and run as many or as few laps as you wish within the 2 hour limit and you can have a break between laps!
It's your challenge, your race, you decide the distance!
All runners, no matter how fast or how far they have run, will receive the same bespoke medal and a goody bag. We have a new medal for 2025.
If you are new to running, why not turn up and run a few laps? Wanting to increase from a 5km to a 10km? Why not turn up and run 10 laps? If you are super speedy and looking for the ultimate challenge, why not see if you can run a half marathon within the 2 hour limit? The choice is yours. No need to advise us in advance how many laps you wish to do, just turn up and run! There is absolutely, no need to run for the full 2 hours, unless you really wish to do so.
Car Parking is a short walk away and York Sports Village has toilet and showers available before and after the event. Toilets are also available at the track during the event.
Please note that this is a cupless event. Runners are asked to bring their own labelled bottle/cup to the event which we are happy to fill and refill with water and squash. There will be a well stocked aid station with lots of sweets and savoury snacks to keep you fuelled on your challenge
A full race briefing will be e-mailed to all entrants 1 week before the event. Race Registration will be on the day at the event.
